Derided by Napoleon as a ‘nation of shopkeepers’ Neil Houghton traces the changing design and social history of English retail from the great Department Stores to the humbler Corner Shop.

A selection of publications will be available at all meetings.

St. Saviour’s Church has its own car-park and the 158 and 58 bus routes have a stop immediately outside. St. James Street station is approximately 15 minutes’ walk away and Walthamstow Central and Walthamstow Queens Road stations are approximately 20 minutes’ walk.
