Local history groups will have displays at the Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum on Sunday 8th September from 11am to 4pm. A quality replica of Britain’s first internal combustion engine car, made by Frederick Bremer in Walthamstow, first driven in 1892, will be on display. Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum head Lindsay Collier will give a short talk about it at 12 noon. At 2pm David Boote of Leyton & Leytonstone Historical Society will give a short talk about the Leyton councillors named on a splendid memorial slab displayed at the Pumphouse.
The Walthamstow Pumphouse Museum is at 10 South Access Road E17 8AX, 10 minutes walk from St. James Street Station (Overground). The W19 bus stop for Barn Croft Primary School is just yards away from the Museum. 58 and 158 routes along Markhouse Road are under 10 minutes walk at the Markhouse Avenue stop. Informal car parking on South Access Road and Essex Road.
