A guided historical walk exploring Upper Walthamstow with qualified tour guide Joanna Moncrieff
About this Event
This 90 minute circular walk from St Peter-in-the-Forest church will explore the fascinating history of this area, much of which remained undeveloped until the 1930s. Clues to what was there before can be found in some of the street names and even a modern map will show you that some of the grounds of a former grand house can still be seen today. Our guide has dug deep into the lives of several of the parishioners buried in the churchyard and we will hear about these families on the walk and in some cases how they connect to well known events and people.
Places are limited so if you do book, please ensure that you arrive promptly on the day to enjoy the workshop. Do let us know as soon as you are able if you can no longer make it so that someone else can enjoy the opportunity.
Although this walking tour is free, we are collecting donations to support the charitable work of St Peter’s. If you are able, please give a suggested donation of £10 (or more if you can!) to help us reach our local community – thank you for your understanding and generosity!
Joanna’s walk is part of our National Lottery Heritage Funded renovation and community engagement programme.
If you are unable to make the date please contact Joanna via her website to arrange a date for your own private walk
